Profile of Michael Brookes
42 year old Michael Brookes Started racing karts in 1997 around Oklahoma city. Cutting his teeth in 2 cycle Sr. Sportsman and 2 cycle Unlimited, he went out and took 3 local championships and 2 Oklahoma City Grand Prix wins in these clutch type karts. In 1998 Michael moved up to 80cc Shifter Karts and took 2 more local Championships with the help of his wife Carol as Crew Chief, who pilots her own 80cc shifter. During that time he was also able to take Regional Championships in both KART and IKF, along with a Second place 80cc Pro finish in the "1998 SKUSA King of the Streets Nationals". In the 2000 season the stakes were a little higher, but with the Interkart Chassie and Champion Kart Shop's motors, the year ended with a 2nd place finish at the "SKUSA Long Track Nationals" and as Champion of the SKUSA Red River Region. In 2001 Michael won National Championships in the Sprint and Road Race divisions of KART. In 2002 Michael again won a National Championship in Road Race in KART and again in IKF
